Hospital Description
Banner Del E. Webb hospital, in the northwest part of Phoenix known as Sun City West, first opened its doors in 1988 and now boasts to be the eighth largest hospital in the Phoenix Valley. With over 400 beds, and the capacity to 92 extra beds, this hospital can take care of almost 500 patients. In 2019, this hospital was awarded a Critical Care Excellence award, and Stroke Care Excellence award, and was recognized as one of the top 250 hospitals in the country. Sun City was originally created in the 1960s to be a retirement community, complete with rec center, shopping center, and (who could forget) a golf course! The Banner hospital gets its name from the founder of Sun City, Del E. Webb, who was the real-estate developer and co-owner of the NY Yankees.
If you’re a nurse that enjoys golf, this might be the place for you! There are 8 golf courses in Sun City. Sun City West is not far from the White Tank Mountains, where you can enjoy hiking, mountain biking, off-roading, boating/kayaking, and fishing! This hospital is also about 4 hours away from the grand canyon and under two hours away from the city of Sedona. Just a reminder to all nurses out there, temperatures can range to the 120’s sometimes in Phoenix Arizona, so bring sunscreen and plenty of water if you’re doing any outdoor activities.
