Palmdale, CA  93551

184 Beds

Palmdale Regional Medical Center is a private hospital. One of the most expensive hospital projects undertaken by Universal Health Services, this 60,000 square foot facility features an acute care facility in addition to apartment housing for those who need assisted living. The facility is the only hospital in Palmdale since its opening in 2010, and includes the largest 35-bed ER department in the Antelope Valley area. The facility also includes a heliport.

Palmdale, California is the southern half of the Palmdale/Lancaster urban area with an estimated population of over 500k in 2013. As part of the Mojave Desert, this area is quite arid and hot during the summer, with mild winters. Despite being part of the desert, this area is abundant with native plant species and animals, from Black Sage, Desert Globemallow, to the red-tailed hawk, leopard frog, and California condor. The population is diverse, and the economy is mostly supported by the aerospace industry. For those travel nurses interested in mental healthcare, Palmdale residents are more at risk for depression, the city being rated as one of the most stressful in California. Shopping is abundant in Palmdale, as well as music and the arts, with the city’s 10,000 seat outdoor amphitheater, the Palmdale Amphitheater. Home of the fictitious Jimmy Livingston, from the 2001 Bubble Boy, Palmdale is a large city with enough character and opportunity for many travel nurses.
